Obituary for Andre M. Asamoah

Asamoah, Andre Michael, 21 months, of Oklahoma City, went to be with God on November 24, 2017. He was born on February 15, 2016 in Oklahoma City to Yaw Asamoah and Meghan Scears-Asamoah.

Andre was born with a significant congenital heart defect. He underwent many procedures and surgeries in his life, and fought through them all. Andre and his family are eternally grateful for all of the medical staff who helped Andre live his life to the fullest for the 21 months he was blessed to live, specifically Dr. Lisa Makil and Dr. Harold Burkhart, as well as the other countless doctors and nurses who cared for Andre while he lived.

He truly emulated his name, which means “Brave and manly”. He was a precious gift to his family who will be forever treasured in their hearts. He was a joy to all who knew him, sewing happiness everywhere he went. He was loved deeply. He was baptized in March of 2016 at City Pres in Oklahoma City, and now resides with God. Andre loved the song “I’m still standing” from the children’s movie “Sing”, and wants everyone to know that “I’m still standing, yeah, yeah, yeah!” next to Jesus.

Andre is survived by his parents, Yaw Asamoah and Meghan Scears-Asamoah; his sisters, Audrey and Annie Asamoah; maternal grandparents, Michael and Kristie Scears; maternal great-grandmother, Margaret Scears; maternal Uncle and Aunt, James and Samantha Scears; cousin, Charlotte Scears; godmother, Carrie Alexin; godfather, William Pountney; paternal grandparents, Lord E. Asamoah and Janet Owusu, and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by maternal great-grandparents, Jimmie Scears, Mary Arganbright, Jim Arganbright, and Annie Arganbright, and maternal aunt, Kay Franklin.

A celebration of Andre’s life will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 11 AM at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home in Midwest City, OK. Interment will follow at Heritage Burial Park at South Lakes in Oklahoma City, OK.
