Obituary for Betty Wilkerson

Wilkerson, Betty Alice, 89, formerly of Midwest City, died June 11, 2017 at United Methodist Home of Enid. Born October 19, 1927 at home in Cotton County, Oklahoma, to Walter “Pete” and Annie (Rhodes) Thomas, she was the oldest of four daughters. Betty grew up working on the family farm and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Home Economics. She married Ted Eugene Wilkerson on January 30, 1949, in Indiahoma, OK. Betty taught home economics at Marland and Jones High Schools and was a 4-H leader most of her teaching career. She and Ted retired from teaching and lived on an acreage near Spencer, OK, until his death in 1996. She then moved to Midwest City where she was an active member of the Country Estates Baptist Church and the Priscilla class. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and crocheting for family and friends, as well as, sharing each day with her morning coffee group. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters Helen Byrd, JoAnn Lail, and Barbara Myers. She is survived by her son Tommy and wife Janice, grandson Tim and wife Jana, granddaughter Tiffany Blaser and husband Robert, great grandchildren Nick, Trent, Treven, Timbree, and Teegan and great-great granddaughter Julie all of Lamont, OK and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home with interment following at Arlington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your charity of choice.
