Obituary for Carl Kenneth West

Carl Kenneth West passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in Midwest City, OK at the age of 91.

He was born to Carl and Rosa West in Baird, TX.

He was a graduate of The University of Texas with a degree in chemistry. He served as Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during WWII, continuing in the Naval Reserves for 14 years. He also worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 29 years as a Chemist and Chemical Engineer. He was dedicated to his church family and was instrumental in the growth of Choctaw United Methodist Church being involved in committees and activities. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy and University of Texas fan. “Ken” and Mary spent 33 winters in Port Aransas, TX enjoying the weather and fishing.

“Ken” is survived by his beloved wife, Mary of 67 years; brother, Dwight West and wife Joyce of Denton, TX; son, Rick and wife Connie; daughter, Diane; grandchildren, Matthew and wife Rachel, Allison, Natalie and husband Adam; great grandchildren, Owen, Isla and Henrik.

Viewing is scheduled for Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home in Midwest City, OK.

A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, June 30, 2017 at Elmwood Cemetery in Choctaw, OK. Interment will follow.
