Obituary for Daniel "Danny" Lee Strickland

Daniel “Danny” Lee Strickland, devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away September 12, 2017 at his home in Stillwater, OK. He was born February 6, 1946 to Reverend Bert R. and Retha Strickland in Oklahoma City, OK.

He was a 1964 graduate of Midwest City High School. Daniel was in the credit business for many years. He first worked for CCB for eleven years before becoming an owner for twenty years. He was happiest watching his children and grandchildren in their sporting events, whether it was football or dancing. He not only cheered for his own family but anyone who had a child playing, he was there to cheer them on too.

Dan will be remembered as the most genuine of storytellers, remembering times, dates and events throughout his life. His love for his Lord and Savior goes without question. He shared his faith wherever he went without judging anyone. It was easy to like Dan because he was authentic in his love for people.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Karen (Wingfield) Strickland; daughter, Kirsten and husband Mike Gundy; sons, Chad and wife Charm Strickland and Craig and wife Jae Strickland; 8 wonderful grandchildren, who were the love of his life, Gavin, Gunnar, Gage, Karis, Lake, Ily, Kate and Jake. He is also survived by his brother, Jim; sisters, Beverly Weaver and Miriam Young; and many beloved nephews and nieces.

Our family would like to thank our friends and neighbors for their prayers, support, kindness, food and visits. We would like to extend a special thank you to Dennis, who took him to early morning dialysis and Keesha Sanders, for her nursing advice. Also, thank you to Health Back Home Health and Karman Hospice of Stillwater, OK.

Dan fought valiantly against amyloidosis. His hope and prayer was to bring attention to this rare disease and find a cure. The joy and laughter he brought to our family and friends will be a constant loving memory. He will be truly missed by all who knew him, but we have the assurance through Jesus Christ our Lord that we will see him again. Philippians 1:21
