Obituary for Earl Lavoy King

King, Earl Lavoy, 86, of Midwest City, OK passed away on April 14, 2017 at his residence. Born August 3, 1930 in New Liberty, OK to Earl & Leona King. Lavoy had a scholarship for basketball to attend OSU but chose to join the USAF at the age of 18, while in the AF he was a transmission specialist where he toured Germany and Vietnam. While in Germany, he met his Fraulein Hannelore, the love of his life. Together, they rode motorcycles across the US & settled in Oklahoma and adopted two beautiful girls Kelli & Tina. After 21 years, he retired from the USAF. Lavoy formed Panhandle Traveler’s Band in 1992 where he was lead singer and played bass guitar. Lavoy was an entrepreneur who successfully owned & operated three electronic businesses.
He was an avid horseman, having competed in numerous rodeos & equestrian events with much ambition. Lavoy went on to teach school for several years as well as attaining his Real Estate License and became a paramedic. He completed welding school as a hobby. Lavoy was best known among family and friends to be active in singing & playing music. He loved to dance & attended various senior citizens dances.
He lived a very happy, fulfilling life where he never knew a stranger. Lavoy is preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 54 years, Hannelore Christine King, his parents Earl & Leona, his sister Beatrice Poinkowski. He is survived by his daughters, Kelli King & Tina Waldrip, Granddaughters Ashley Robnett &Kendall Shea, grandsons Zachary Waldrip & Derek Robnett.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home with interment following at Elmwood Cemetery, Choctaw, Okla.
