Obituary for Gerold Larry Leimer

Gerold Larry Leimer, 82 of Oklahoma City, died February 24, 2017. He was born October 22, 1934 in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. Soon after graduation from Capitol Hill High School, Gerold graduated from Langston University with a Business Degree. He worked for a short time at Tinker AFB and then spent 27 years with Transcon Freight Lines as a Terminal Dispatcher until the company closed. He then worked again for a number of years at Tinker AFB as a contract employee, even working part-time until he eventually retired. In the early 80"s he opened a restaurant and bar called, The Trees. He ran it for a couple of years during which many of his Transcon friends enjoyed his hospitality. He loved his family and friends and spent countless hours tending to his beautiful yard full of flowers and making sure the pool was ready so that everyone could come over for a swim and enjoy the lovely scenery. He made wonderful dinners and of course his famous chocolate cake! He always wanted everyone to have their favorite thing to eat and to make sure everyone had enough of everything. He was the ultimate host. He was a long-time member of St. John"s Lutheran Church in Moore, Oklahoma. Gerold is preceded in death by his parents Karl and Myrtice Leimer of Oklahoma City; brothers, Glenn Leimer of Augusta, Kansas and K. Stuart Leimer of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law, Ruth Leimer of Oklahoma City; niece, Linda Deshong of Oklahoma City and many close friends over the years. He is survived by nieces, Karla Leimer Squires and husband Phillip, Natalie Leimer Hight and husband Robert both of Oklahoma City; nephews, Marten Leimer and wife Linda of Mulvane, Kansas, Delvan Leimer and wife Nancy of Perryton, Texas, Randall Leimer and wife Karen of Kansas City, Kansas; sister-in-law, Helen Leimer of Augusta Kansas and many great nieces, nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews of whom he loved and cherished. Gerold was a generous, loving, funny man and will be greatly missed.
