Obituary for Ida Mae Strawn

Strawn, Ida Mae was born the 7th of 10 children to William Muller and Ivor Hoskins Ross Muller in Jones, Oklahoma on Oct 21, 1926. She grew up in Jones graduating from Jones High School and maintained many lifelong friends from there. She married James Harold Strawn from Jones, her high school sweetheart, on May 1, 1943. They had two children Robert Strawn and Judy Strawn Trevino. Ida Mae was blessed with four grandchildren, Bobby Lynn Alexander, Kristin Murphy, Kelly Trevino and Dana Trevino; and four great grandchildren, Zachary Alexander, Taylor Alexander, Lauren Murray and Addison Murray. It would be difficult to say who she enjoyed more – the grands or the great-grands! They were the light of her life. Her family was her life both biological and extended.
Ida Mae loved to garden and can vegetables and fruits. She was an excellent cook and we cousins all have delicious memories of her chocolate pies and other goodies. You never left her house hungry or thirsty as there was always food and her “Sweet Tea.”
She and Harold raised cattle and other livestock farming land west of Jones. They loved square dancing and motorcycling. Ida Mae had an unusual nickname, “Moochy”, a moniker bestowed upon her by her brother Harry for mooching candy and cigarettes at a very young age.
Ida Mae worked for many years at Fox Vilet Drug Co in what is now known as Bricktown filling orders for drug stores throughout the Oklahoma City area. She also established many lifelong friends from her work at Fox Vilet.
Ida Mae was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents, brothers John, Ted, Harry, Robert and Charlie; sisters Francis Ryals, Beulah Eldridge, Ruth Austin and Clara Harrell; and two granddaughters, Kelly and Dana Trevino. Ida Mae is survived by son Robert Strawn and his wife, Jerry; daughter Judy Trevino and her husband, Ben; granddaughter Bobby Lynn Alexander and her husband Billy, Granddaughter Kristin Murray and their two children, Zachary and Taylor; and her children, Maddison and Addison. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews in Oklahoma, Colorado, Arizona, Georgia, Wyoming and California. Services will be held grave side at the Jones IOOF Cemetery at 10:00 am, Wednesday, Sep 20, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jones Ministerial Alliance Fund, PO Box 597, Jones OK 73049 where Ida Mae enjoyed many monthly Senior Lunches at the First Baptist Church in Jones.
