Obituary for Jean K. Hanson

Jean Kathryn Matheny Hanson died Thursday, April 6, 2017 in Midwest City Oklahoma at the age of 79.

She was born on November 18, 1937 in Atwood, Oklahoma to Birdie Faye Lewis Matheny and Paul Augustus Matheny.

She graduated from Seminole High School in 1955 and attended East Central University. She married Jimmy Dwayne Peck and had Keith Peck and Kevin Hanson.

She worked at various jobs before she met and married Monroe Howard Hanson, her husband of 37 years. Monroe's daughter, Sheral Hanson King, joined the family, and they had Michael Howard Hanson. They established their home in Choctaw with their four children. She graduated from beauty school and worked as a beautician until she began working at Tinker Field Air Force Base where she assembled fuel pumps and was an electronic technician. She retired from Tinker in 2000.

Jean /Mema's house was always filled with friends and family. Her home was a place of many happy memories where she shared her love and her pool! Her door was always open and welcoming.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, and daughter, Sheral Hanson King.

Jean is survived by her children: Keith Peck and wife Lisa of Florida, Kevin Hanson and wife Quenna of Choctaw, Mike Hanson of Choctaw; grandchildren: Chad King and wife Jennifer, Heather King Heathington and husband Kelly, Michael Hanson and wife Chrissy, Jared Hanson, Nathan Hanson and wife Macie, Joshua Hanson, Amanda Peck, and Maci Hanson; great-grandchildren: Jett, Braydon, Taylor, Maddie, Maley, Mason, Laney, Breanne and Bryson.

Viewing is scheduled for Monday, April 10, 2017 from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home in Midwest City, Oklahoma. The family will greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral is planned for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, Oklahoma.
