Charles Robert Branch, 89, of Midwest City, OK passed away September 3, 2018. He was born January 10, 1929 to John and Mary Stephens-Branch in Lumberton, NC. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, 11 siblings, and wife, Helen. He is survived by his children, Vicki Branch Berry, Kathleen Leach (Mike), Rodney Getsy (Brigitte), Kimberly Lauber, Lisa Nelson (Robert), Amy Diamond; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Nicole.
Charles graduated from Orrum Highschool in Lumberton, NC in 1947. He joined the military in 1950 and was stationed at various locations. He fought during the Korean and Vietnam wars, and then retired from the Airforce Academy in 1975 as Senior Master Sargeant. He was recognized for his achievements and received many military honors and awards. He also worked for the private sector before returning to civil service, where he had worked for several years and then retired. He enjoyed volunteering at the V.A. after retirement and was an active member of Midwest Boulevard Christian Church.
Charles married Helen Swearingen in Woodbridge, England in September 1962. They were married for 48 years.
Charles looked forward to meeting up with his military buddies at All American Diner after his retirement. He was a wonderful man who was known for his great sense of humor, generosity, and being a devoted, loving husband and father. Truth be told, it has often been said that Charles never made an enemy, he was just truly a wonderful person to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 10AM, Friday, September 7, 2018 at Midwest Boulevard Christian Church and will later be inurned at Arcadia I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
