Obituary for James D. Hadden

James “Jim” David Hadden, 80, of Edmond, Oklahoma, died August 16, 2018. He was born May 15, 1938 in Charleston, West Virginia to Margaret and Delbert “Deb” Hadden and had a baby sister, Carol. James married Frances Bolling on June 23, 1961 and they spent 53 wonderful years together. He was a long-time member of Meadowood Baptist Church and was active in the choir. He loved singing and was a member of several singing groups as a high schooler and throughout his adult life. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and loved playing the banjo. However, his true passion was teaching and coaching. He began his teaching career at Midwest City High School and was one of the original staff members at Carl Albert Jr-Senior High School when its doors opened in 1962. He retired from Carl Albert High School after 38 years of teaching. Long after retiring, he continued to hear from former students whose lives he had greatly influenced through his teaching. He was gentle and kind and never met a stranger. Those who knew him, loved him and will miss him greatly. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Deb and Margaret Hadden and his sister, Carol Pepper Elkins, and his beloved wife and soul mate, Frances Hadden. He is survived by his two daughters, Jamie Anne Gable, husband, Don, of Edmond and Jennifer Lynne Schmitz of Edmond; four grandchildren, Corey Gable, Kelsey Ridings, Conner Schmitz and Callie Schmitz. The Memorial Service for Jim will be Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Meadowood Baptist Church, Midwest City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meadowood Baptist Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
