Obituary for Patsy A. Lumry

Patsy Ann Lumry went home to her Lord and Savior on July 7, 2019 after an extended illness. Pat was born as the youngest of 7 children to Roy and Esther Dan, on March 2, 1937 in Jones, OK. She graduated from Choctaw High School in 1955 and married the love of her life, Kenneth R. Lumry, on February 9, 1957. She lived her life dedicated to being an exceptional wife, mother, and grandmother.

As the wife of a career Air Force officer, Pat touched lives in many different states, including Alaska and Hawaii. A longtime resident of Midwest City, Pat was a faithful member of Country Estates Baptist Church, where she taught young children in Sunday School until into her late 70’s and loved every minute of it. Pat also set up her sewing machine each Wednesday evening to attach earned patches on children’s AWANA vests. She was a gifted seamstress. Her faith was real and shared with others. After raising her family, Pat spent most of her working career in medical office administration retiring from OU Health Sciences Center in December 1999. After her retirement, she and Kenneth enjoyed the freedom to travel. Pat and Kenneth loved cruising with friends and family, attending OSU football games for many years, basketball games (wherever their son-in-law was coaching), and gardening. Pat always treasured time spent with family, hosting many gatherings in their home over the years.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Maudie Franklin, Rowena Mills, and Cleda Bea Swartz; three brothers, Leroy, Charles, and Bob Dan; their infant daughter, Janet Lumry (1960) and their recently deceased (May 2019) son, Mitchell Lumry. Pat is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years; their two daughters, Kelli (Bob) Hoffman and Karen (John) Ledbetter; their daughter-in-law, Corey Lumry; grandchildren, Lauren (Michael) Lumry Chavez, Keri (Jon) Ledbetter Pennington, Amy (Landon) Ledbetter Warren, Cassidy Lumry, McKenzie Lumry, Grant Hoffman; and great-grandchildren, Brittyn, Liam, Eden, and Blakely. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 10th from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM with family present from 4:00-6:00 PM. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 11th at Country Estates Baptist Church in Midwest City with interment following at Arlington Memory Gardens. Services are under the direction of Barnes Friederich Funeral Home of Midwest City, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) for heart and kidney disease research or to a charity of your choice.
