Obituary for Walter Edward Fedor

Walter Fedor, 97, died 6th January 2019 in Edmond Oklahoma where he has lived for the last nine months. His Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday January 9th at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond Oklahoma followed by internment at Washington Cemetery, Washington, PA on January 14th at 11:00 am.

Mr. Fedor was born on January 28th 1921 in Clarksville, PA to Roman and Catherine Fedor. Following graduation from Trinity High School in 1939, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was assigned to the 22nd Bomb Group at Langley Field, VA. As WWII commenced Mr. Fedor was reassigned to the fifth bomber command being one of the first units to arrive in Australia. During his twenty-five months in Australia and New Guinea he earned among others the American Theater Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars.

In February of 1944 Walter was rotated home where he married his beloved Annette Kubas on February 22, 1944 at St. Bartholoimew Catholic Church in Crabtree, PA.

Upon being honorably discharged from the Air Corps in September of 1945 he established his home in Washington, PA with his wife and only son Ronald Fedor. He was well known throughout the tri-state area by all truckers and the truck and bus companies as the parts manager for Washington International Trucking for 29 years.

Walter was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, a member of Washington Elks 776, a member of Maggi senior citizens golf league and a recent member of Time-Out group at St John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Walter was a proud advocate for the American Legion serving as Commander of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, Washington, PA in 1964-65. In 1971 he was awarded a Gold Life membership card for his work as chairman of the building committee being instrumental in purchasing and erecting the post’s home off Park Ave. During his 67 year membership at Post 175 Walter held various positions including many years helping with bingo and serving on the Color Guard of the firing squad.

Walter Fedor was preceded in death by father Roman Fedor, mother Catherine Fedor, brother Mike Fedor, and sisters Barbara Zelenka and Mary Turzynski , his wife Annette, son Ronald Fedor and his wife Marianne. He is survived by grandchildren CJ Fedor (Rachael) of Edmond OK. Bridgette Fedor of Pawhuska, OK and Kenny Fedor (Kelly) of East Port, NY and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are being coordinated with Barnes-Friederich of Midwest City, OK and William G. Neal of Washington, PA. In leu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ewin Scott Linton Post 175 or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, PA.
