Obituary for Wanda Mae Smith

Wanda Mae Smith of Choctaw, Oklahoma, passed away on June 8, 2019 at her home. Wanda was born on June 12, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Haskell Ray Wilson and Maggie Violet Thompson Wilson. Wanda attended Capital Hill High School. She lived with her husband Tommy and children in Oklahoma City until 1964 when they made their home in Choctaw. Wanda was a homemaker most of that time taking care of her family. As her children became older she worker for a few years as a manager at McDonald's in Midwest City. Wanda was a member of First Baptist Church of Harrah.

Wanda's joy in life came through being around family and friends. Over the years she enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports and other various activities. She also enjoyed the many times of vacationing at the lake with family. Later in life she was blessed with the company of several close lady friends, as they would get together at one another's homes to visit and play cards. Wanda loved being outdoors sitting on her patio enjoying God's beautiful creation of trees, birds, flowers and a gentle breeze. One of her talented hobbies was her beautiful handiwork in crocheting many different types items.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents; Haskell Ray and Maggie Violet Wilson: her husband, Thomas Pascal Smith; 1 sister, JoAnn Meyers; 3 brothers, Troy Wilson, Keith Wilson and Roy Wilson and one granddaughter Bethany Ann Hooper.

Wanda is survived by her 2 sons, Bobby Gill and his wife Connie of McLoud; Thomas Smith Jr and his wife Aline of Harrah; 3 daughters, Debra Hooper and her husband Dennis of Cheyenne, Denise Harding and Roy Williams of Choctaw; and Tena Teague of Choctaw; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Donna Malicott and husband Jim of Oklahoma City; 1 brother-in-law, Benny Smith of Moore, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held to celebrate Wanda's life at 10:00AM, Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Chapel in Midwest City with interment to follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City.

Donations may be made in her honor to Mobile Meals 2700 N. Main Choctaw, OK 73020.
