Obituary for Lewis Ray Hoffman, Sr.

Lewis R. Hoffman, Sr., 89, of Midwest City, died July 18, 2018 in Oklahoma City. He was born on May 22, 1929 in Wichita, Kansas to Lewis Earl Hoffman and Lola Fern Hoffman Weaver.

He was raised during the depression and did everything from pumping gas to fixing radios and televisions to flying airplanes.

He served 24 years in the United States Air Force. Ten of those years were with the White House Communications Agency where he served Presidents Johnson, Nixon, and Ford. He then served various government agencies including the Washington, DC Fire Department and the Federal Aviation Administration.

During this time he acquired a love of learning and eventually earned a Bachelor’s Degree. Along with his love of learning he loved to teach, and taught electronics, flying, and investing.
He enjoyed flying, fishing on Winchester Bay in Oregon and on the White River in Arkansas, camping, and teaching investments to anyone who would listen.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Thadise; daughter, Valerie Stursa; father and mother, Lewis Earl Hoffman and Lola Fern Hoffman Weaver; stepfather, Samuel Ray Weaver; brothers, Robert Hoffman and Merle Hoffman; and sister, Ilene Rohrer.

He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Roach and husband Steve of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; daughter, Debi Patton of Maryland and Oklahoma; son, Lewis Hoffman and wife Peri of Moore, Oklahoma; brother, Melvin Hoffman and wife Loretta of Wichita, Kansas; brother, Dale Hoffman of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Bobby, Christi, Jenny, Ryder, Tammie, Katie, Christian, Zach, Josh, Ashley, and Chelsea; great grandchildren, Amanda, Travis, Jacob, Jonah, Hayden, and Blaine; and great great grandchildren, Levi, Ivor, and Harry.

Funeral Services will be held at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home, Midwest City, OK, on July 21, 2018. Viewing is from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., service is at 2:00 p.m., with interment following at Kolb Cemetery on Midwest Blvd., Midwest City.
