Obituary for Bobby Joe Posey

Bobby Joe Posey left this life to join his beloved wife in the presence of his Lord on July 24, 2018. Bob was born December 29, 1932 in Chickasha, OK, the only son of Joe and Fay Coon Posey.

He grew up on the family farm outside Mt. View, OK. He attended Cottonwood School and graduated from Mt. View High School. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1957 with a degree in Petroleum Geology. He married his high school sweetheart, Eldean Caid in Vernon, TX on August 21, 1952. They were married 60 years and were the proud parents of 4 children. Bob began his career at Panhandle Eastern Pipeline in 1958 then transferred to Anadarko Petroleum Co. in 1967. There he and his wife made lifelong friends and memories including bridge and poker parties, catching frogs, bowling, picnics, and vacations at the lake. In 1972, he became a consulting Petroleum Geologist until 1999, during which time he accumulated one of the largest private geological libraries in Kansas and Oklahoma, which he donated to the University of Oklahoma.

He was the happiest when putting together and selling drilling prospects, playing with the “grand girls” and later, teaching the Kyle bad habits. He enjoyed playing golf, spending time with friends and family, and traveling, especially if it meant he could go fishing. He was well known for his humor, especially his one liners, his generosity, and as a faithful friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, cousin, Jerry Posey and his wife Karolyn. He is survived by his children, Belinda Posey of Tulsa, Dianna Johnson and her husband Mark of Midwest City, Greg Posey and partner Michael Hawk of Richardson, TX, Kendel Posey and husband David John of Norman, Ok; two granddaughters, Caitlin Plog and husband Zachary of Midwest City, Lauren Gandy and husband Christopher of Tyler, TX; great grandson, Kyle; as well as his beloved border collie Lucy.

Visitation will be at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home from 6PM-8PM on Thursday, July 26th and services will be at 10AM, Friday, July 27th at Soldier Creek Baptist Church, Midwest City, OK, with burial at Arlington Memorial Gardens, Midwest City. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the charity of your choice in his name.
